Hyundai India is all set to launch to launch its latest all-electric model in India and it has been spotted testing again. The Creta EV is expected to launch in India sometime in 2025, with production said to begin later this year.
The test mule of the Creta Electric was under heavy camouflage but revealed some interesting details about the upcoming EV. As we already know, the Creta EV will look largely similar to the internal combustion engine (ICE) version of the compact SUV. However, it will have some visual differences such as a closed-off grille that will also house the charging port.
The Creta EV will have the same set of LED DRLs at the front as well as a similar layout for the taillamps as the Creta facelift. It will also have its ADAS module housed in the lower half of the bumper. However, the Creta Electric will get aero-designed alloy wheels that will also help differentiate it from the ICE model.
Inside, the Creta Electric will share most of its cabin with the standard Creta but could have some changes. These changes are likely to include a redesigned steering wheel with Hyundai’s logo in Morse code, as seen in the Ioniq 5. Other changes could include EV-specific software for the infotainment and driver’s displays.
The Creta EV is likely to be powered by a 45 kWh battery pack that will be placed on the floor. The battery, likely to be produced by Exide Energy under the new MoU, is said to have a claimed range of around 450 km on a single charge. The Creta Electric is likely to get a single-motor setup at the front wheels and it will likely be the same unit as the Kona Electric.
When launched, the Creta EV is likely to be priced above the ₹20 lakh (ex-showroom, India) mark. It will compete with the likes of the MG ZS EV, Maruti Suzuki eVX and its Toyota counterpart, Mahindra XUV400 and Tata Curvv.ev.
