Hyundai’s high-performance N division has unveiled the Elantra N TCR Edition, a special iteration of its popular compact sedan that draws heavily from the brand’s motorsport pedigree. Launched to celebrate its achievements in the TCR (Touring Car Racing) series, this limited-edition model combines performance-inspired aesthetics with exclusive features, albeit without altering the car's mechanical foundation.
The Elantra N TCR Edition is Hyundai’s way of commemorating its multiple victories in TCR racing. The model draws design inspiration and technical cues from Hyundai’s touring car exploits, which have cemented the brand’s reputation as a serious contender in global motorsport and at the same time, marketed as the Avante N TCR Edition in South Korea.
Under the hood, the TCR Edition retains the same 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder engine as the standard Elantra N. Producing 276 bhp and 392 Nm of torque, the engine delivers power through either a 6-speed manual or an optional 8-speed dual-clutch transmission (DCT). With a 0-100 kmph sprint time of around 5 seconds, the Elantra N remains a quick and capable performer in its segment. However, the TCR Edition’s aerodynamic enhancements, including the prominent rear wing, might slightly impact its top speed.
The TCR Edition distinguishes itself through significant visual and functional upgrades, inspired by its motorsport counterpart with a lightweight, adjustable carbon fibre swan-neck rear spoiler, 19-inch forged alloy wheels, Alcantara upholstery graces the steering wheel, complete with a blue top marker as well as blue seat belts and TCR Edition badging. For South Korean buyers, Hyundai offers a bold TCR Edition N decal package for added visual impact.
