Hyundai Motor India has introduced the Creta King and Creta King Limited Edition to celebrate a decade of its blockbuster SUV, marking a premium positioning strategy in the increasingly competitive mid-size SUV segment.
Celebrating ten glorious years of the iconic Creta in India, Hyundai Motor India Limited unveiled the new Creta King variants on September 2, 2025, priced significantly higher than existing models. The Creta King starts at ₹17.89 lakh for the petrol manual variant, while the top-end Creta King Limited Edition with diesel automatic transmission commands ₹20.92 lakh (ex-showroom).
The new King variants represent Hyundai's most expensive Creta offerings, positioned substantially above regular trims. The Creta King petrol manual at ₹17.89 lakh costs ₹40,500 more than the regular SX Premium variant at ₹16.34 lakh. More dramatically, the King Limited Edition diesel automatic at ₹20.92 lakh carries a premium of nearly ₹50,800 over the comparable SX Premium diesel automatic variant.
This pricing strategy places the King variants closer to premium competitors like the Kia Seltos HTX(O) at ₹16.77 lakh and Maruti Grand Vitara Alpha at ₹16.90 lakh. The Creta King's premium positioning reflects Hyundai's confidence in the brand's decade-long market leadership, as the Creta maintained its position as India's bestselling Compact SUV with 1,94,871 units sold in FY2025.
The Creta King introduces segment-first features including R18 diamond-cut alloys, driver power seat memory function, passenger seat electric 8-way adjustment with walk-in device, and a built-in dashcam. The variant also debuts the new Black Matte colour option across the Creta line-up, adding visual distinction to justify the premium pricing.
The King Limited Edition offers the most exclusive ownership experience with special 'King' branding on seat belt covers, headrest cushions, carpet mats, key covers, and door cladding. Available only with automatic transmissions (IVT for petrol and 6-speed AT for diesel), it targets affluent buyers seeking exclusivity.
Hyundai has consistently leveraged special editions to maintain Creta's market appeal throughout its decade-long journey. The tradition began with the Anniversary Edition in 2016, celebrating the Creta's first year with a distinctive white-and-black dual-tone theme priced at ₹12.23 lakh for petrol and ₹13.76 lakh for diesel.
The company introduced the Adventure Edition in August 2023, featuring segment-first dashcam technology, blacked-out styling elements, and the unique Ranger Khaki colour option starting at Rs 15.17 lakh. More recently, the Knight Edition launched in September 2024 with an all-black aesthetic and brass accents, priced between ₹14.51 lakh and ₹20.15 lakh.
