Mobis India Limited, an affiliate of Hyundai Motor India and part of the global Hyundai Mobis network, has officially inaugurated its state-of-the-art Electric Vehicle Battery System Assembly (BSA) Plant in Sriperumbudur, Tamil Nadu. The new BSA plant is strategically located adjacent to Hyundai Motor India’s existing vehicle manufacturing facility, enhancing operational efficiency and enabling seamless integration into Hyundai’s supply chain. Spread over 8.15 acres, the facility has been developed to support the assembly of advanced battery systems tailored for electric vehicles, starting with the Hyundai Creta Electric.
The plant is equipped with fully automated assembly lines and cutting-edge robotic systems designed for precision and consistency. High-standard quality control processes are in place to ensure each battery pack meets international benchmarks for safety, performance, and durability.
The plant emphasises eco-conscious manufacturing, incorporating sustainable materials and processes designed to reduce environmental impact. Energy-efficient systems, waste reduction practices, and recyclable components reflect Hyundai Mobis’s global commitment to environmental stewardship.
Beyond technological contributions, the facility is expected to create approximately 255 direct and indirect jobs, further contributing to the local economy and industrial growth in Tamil Nadu. This development also enhances the existing synergy between Hyundai Motor India and Mobis India, reinforcing Tamil Nadu’s status as a growing hub for EV manufacturing.
