The production-spec car is touted to make its debut by 2026
During its recent 2024 Investor Day, Hyundai has revealed that it will be putting into production the N Vision 74 electric car. The high performance EV is likely to be the forerunner in the production-spec hydrogen fuel cell-powered electric car space as Hyundai finally aims to crack the code when it comes to storing the highly inflammable gas.
Paying tribute to the 1974 Hyundai Pony that was designed by Giorgetto Giugiaro, the N Vision 74 is aiming to take performance EVs to a new direction. With nearly 680 horses on tap, the N Vision 74 concept will be powered by a massive 62.4 kWh battery that is fuelled by a 95 kW hydrogen fuel cell.

The concept car had a massive 4.2 kg hydrogen tank fitted that aimed at providing a range figure that would easily take you from Mumbai to Goa on a tankful. Also, there wouldn’t be any long waiting period at charging stations for the battery to get its juice, as filling up the hydrogen tank completely would take almost 5 minutes.
While the N Vision 74’s production run will be limited, likely to be around 200 units, it does spark up the solution that automakers are so desperately trying to find: safely storing hydrogen. Recently, Kawasaki did something similar with demonstration laps of its hydrogen-powered Ninja H2 prior to the Suzuka 8 Hour endurance race. And if these endeavours turn out to be successful, we all should be reaping the benefits of clean fuel powered vehicles in the future.
