Hyundai Staria Electric offers up to 9 seats, and is poised to take on the likes of Kia Carnival and Ford E-Tourneo Custom in international markets.
Hyundai has unveiled the all-electric version of the Staria MPV at the Brussels Motor Show in Belgium. Based on the same platform as its fossil-fueled namesake, the basic architecture for the Starian Electric MPV has been derived from the seven-seater Sante Fe SUV. The combustion engine-powered Staria made its debut in 2021 and was previously on sale in Europe.
The Staria Electric will go on sale in markets such as South Korea, United Kingdom and Europe in the first half of 2026. Production for the battery-powered MPV is set to begin soon at Hyundai Motor’s manufacturing plant in Ulsan, South Korea.
The Staria Electric closely resembles the design of the ICE-powered Staria, with only subtle updates at the front, including a revised bumper. It retains the tall stance, dual sliding doors, wraparound LED light bar and expansive glass area. Dimensionally, it measures 5,255mm in length, 1,990mm in height, and rides on a 2,375mm wheelbase.

Inside the cabin, the Staria Electric receives a redesigned steering wheel, a more horizontally oriented dashboard, and a reworked centre console that incorporates additional physical controls in comparison to the ICE-powered Staria. The fully-electric Staria will be available in a seven-seat Luxury configuration offering 435 litres of boot space, as well as a nine-seat Wagon variant with sliding and foldable seats and up to 1,303 litres of luggage capacity. Hyundai states that the electric MPV has been developed to cater to large families, along with shuttle and fleet operators.
In terms of features, the Staria Electric gets Hyundai’s Connected Car Navigation Cockpit with two 12.3-inch digital displays comprising the instrument cluster and infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, USB-C charging ports in all three rows, 12-speaker Bose audio system, wireless OTA updates, 360-degree camera and Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance System to name a few.

Hyundai offers the Staria Electric with an 84kWh lithium-ion battery that promises a range of up to 400 km on a full charge. This battery is paired to an electric motor driving the front wheels and delivering 215 bhp and 350 NM of torque. The MPV can clock a top speed of 184 kmph. The 800V high-voltage architecture allows fast charging from 10 to 80 percent in 20 minutes. Hyundai will also offer a 11 kW onboard charger as standard.

Hyundai is unlikely to bring the Staria Electric to India anytime soon. That said, the ICE-powered Hyundai Staria was displayed at the Auto Expo last year, although since then, there has been no update on its possible launch in the country.
