The Minister also urged manufacturers to come up with a 5-year plan for increased self-reliant growth.
Speaking at the 64th annual session of the Auto Component Manufacturer’s Association (ACMA), the Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal praised the Indian auto component manufacturers for its Make In India initiative, helping the industry become a global one-stop solution for all things automotive. “We are all focused on making India a developed nation by 2040. But we don’t want to close doors to international markets, in neither import nor export,” added the minister.

As part of its 2047 goal, auto component manufacturers and OEMs should have a five-year plan on how to reduce our reliance on imports. “We need a better assessment of the future,” Goyel commented, while also addressing that the Government will look into the aspect of policymaking, and help for the same will also be initiated.

Addressing the backlogs faced by car dealers across the country, Piyush Goyal also asked manufacturers to come up with strategies, and how to get them all sold. On the same lines, he also urged the necessity to educate customers on the value of OEM products, which will in turn help push the sales of auto manufacturers only. “OEM-specified components should be valued, and the component manufacturers should run a campaign to every automobile user and educate the value an OEM product comes with,” Goyel suggested.
