The Indian Racing Festival will have five race weekends in the 2025 season, with the first race at Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore.
Indian motorsport fans have a reason to celebrate – the Indian Racing Festival 2025 (IRF) has officially begun with its season-opening round at the Kari Motor Speedway in Coimbatore on August 16–17.
The festival brings together India’s biggest racing championships under one banner, including:
Indian Racing League (IRL) – a six-city franchise-based racing series
JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship – India’s oldest racing league, running since 1997
FIA-certified Formula 4 Indian Championship (F4 India) – the only series in India that allows drivers to earn FIA Super Licence points
The 2025 IRF will span five race weekends across five different cities, with a mix of traditional tracks and potential street circuits.
Round 1 – Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore | August 16–17
Round 2 – Madras International Circuit, Chennai | August 22–24
Round 3 – Kari Motor Speedway, Coimbatore | October 3–5
Round 4 – Venue TBD | October 31–November 2
Round 5 – Venue TBD | Dates TBD
While the venues for rounds four and five are yet to be confirmed, organisers have hinted at the inclusion of new locations to make the series more accessible to fans across the country.
The Indian Racing League (IRL) will see six franchise-based teams representing major Indian cities – Delhi, Hyderabad, Goa, Kolkata, Bengaluru, and Chennai. Earlier this year, IRF held a driver draft, where each team signed four drivers, creating a balanced mix of Indian and international talent.
The JK Tyre FMSCI National Racing Championship features 21 Indian drivers, making it the backbone of the country’s motorsport ecosystem. Meanwhile, the Formula 4 Indian Championship stands out as a gateway for young racers aiming to progress to global FIA championships.
Akhilesh Reddy, Chairman & Managing Director of Racing Promotion Pvt Ltd (RPPL), which organises the IRF, said:
“Coimbatore has always been a key pillar of Indian motorsport. This is a city where motorsport is understood, appreciated, and supported at every level, from grassroots karting to professional racing.”
The Indian Racing Festival 2025 is not just about racing – it’s about nurturing homegrown talent, providing international exposure, and building a motorsport culture in India. With city-based racing teams, international drivers, FIA-certified championships, and India’s longest-running racing series, IRF is set to raise the bar for motorsport in the country.
