The Adventure duo slots neatly between the Pure X and Fearless X variants.
Tata Motors has introduced new mid-variant trims, Adventure X and Adventure X+, for its flagship SUVs, the Harrier and Safari, to expand buyer choice within its Persona-based strategy. Priced at ₹18.99–₹19.34 lakh for the Harrier and ₹19.99 lakh for the Safari (ex-showroom), the Adventure duo slots neatly between the Pure X and Fearless X variants.
With unique interior themes, refined cosmetic detailing, and feature upgrades, the Adventure X range aims to bridge the price–feature gap and retain momentum during the competitive festive season. Importantly, this isn’t a limited edition; it’s a strategically positioned, full-time mid-spec offering.
Though mechanically identical to their siblings, the new Adventure trims offer fresh personalisation, both in design and experience:
Interior Overhaul by Persona
The Adventure X introduces themed interior upgrades and identity, while the Adventure X+ adds a richer equipment list for just ₹30,000 more.
On the equipment front, both SUVs carry forward many high-value features seen on top-tier variants:
Tata has not done anything underneath the hood. Both Harrier and Safari Adventure X trims are still powered by the reliable 2.0-litre Kryotec turbocharged diesel unit that churns out 168 bhp and 350 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
There is no petrol, hybrid, or AWD derivative introduction, and the Adventure X+ continues to be front-wheel driven, as with the rest of the range.
Here’s how the new Adventure X+ variants stack up against their immediate siblings (ex-showroom prices):
Model | Pure X Price | Adventure X | Adventure X+ Price | Fearless X+ Price |
---|---|---|---|---|
Harrier | ₹18.69 lakh | ₹18.99 lakh | ₹19.34 lakh | ₹20.19 lakh |
Safari | ₹19.69 lakh | NA | ₹19.99 lakh | ₹21.29 lakh |
For a modest premium of ₹30,000–₹60,000 over the Pure X, buyers get more features, enhanced interiors, and better visual differentiation, without breaching the ₹20 lakh psychological price barrier.
Tata's application of trim-based personas such as Pure, Adventure, Fearless, and Empowered is quite distinctive in the Indian SUV segment. Even the competition brands have begun to experiment with something similar, and you can read about it here.
This is not the first time Tata has relied on special editions or persona trims to revamp its SUVs. Over the last two years, Tata has:
Adventure X and Adventure X+ break the norm since they add value improvements without becoming a limited-edition SKU.
Neither Harrier nor Safari Adventure X is the wheel being reinvented, but both succeed in bridging a price-to-feature gap in the Tata lineup. For those who want to upgrade from the Pure X at a cost of more than ₹20 lakh, these trims offer an attractive middle ground.
With the festive season coming along and SUV competition heating up, Tata's expanding persona strategy continues to deliver fresh options without disruptions to the familiar, a practical move that reflects both market demand and brand confidence.
