Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) reported steep month-on-month declines in both wholesale and retail sales for September 2025, as the company reeled from a major cyberattack that crippled operations across its global manufacturing network. The disruption, which began in late August, led to production stoppages at key sites including those in the UK, India, China, Slovakia, and Brazil, impacting supply chains and delivery timelines.
JLR’s wholesale volumes for Q2 FY26 (July–September) fell to 66,165 units, marking a 24.2% drop versus both the previous quarter and the same period last year. Retail sales stood at 85,495 units, down 17.1% year-on-year and 8.7% quarter-on-quarter, reflecting sustained weakness throughout September as production lines remained idle.
Month | Wholesale Units | Retail Units | % Change Wholesale (MoM) | % Change Retail (MoM) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| June | ~87,285 [est.] | ~93,653 [est.] | — | — |
| July | ~88,287 [est.] | ~90,987 [est.] | +1.1% | -2.8% |
| August | ~80,980 [est.] | ~87,368 [est.] | -8.3% | -3.9% |
| September | 66,165 | 85,495 | -18.4% | -2.1% |
September’s sharper decline coincides with the cyberattack’s full impact, which halted new car production and caused significant delivery delays. Market-specific sales suffered, with the UK seeing a 32.3% drop, and China, North America, and Europe also recording double-digit declines.
Acko Drive had earlier reported about this cyber attack on the company which is believed to be a ransomware assault. It halted JLR’s production lines worldwide and forced an extended shutdown into early October. This not only delayed exports but also interrupted the planned wind down of legacy Jaguar models, further exacerbating inventory shortfalls. Alongside operational headaches, incremental US tariffs and supply-side constraints have compounded these challenges.
With manufacturing now gradually resuming, JLR’s recovery hinges on restoring full production and delivering backlogged orders. While the company’s House of Brands strategy and premium model mix remain strong, uncertainty persists over the pace of recovery, as cybersecurity threats and supply issues continue to loom over the automotive sector.
