The Janus Halcyon 450 boasts of exquisite styling and a premium price tag.
The Janus Halcyon 450 is a striking motorcycle that blends classic aesthetics with modern engineering. At first glance, it appears to be a relic from the early days of motorcycling, thanks to its hand-crafted panels, vintage-style fuel tank, and meticulous hand-striped badging. However, beneath this nostalgic exterior lies a thoroughly modern machine powered by a single-cylinder SWM engine based on the Honda XR400 unit, delivering around 30 bhp.
One of the Halcyon 450's standout features is its use of an Earls-type front fork, a suspension system more commonly associated with motorcycle sidecar setups and classic post-war BMW models like the R69 S. This design choice, along with the unique under-seat rear suspension, adds to the bike's vintage appeal.
Priced at $14,995 (i.e. around ₹12.59 lakh), the Halcyon 450 offers a base model already rich in character. However, Janus Motorcycles provides a wide range of optional parts and unique finishes, allowing for extensive customisation and potentially driving a much higher final price. This bike is perfect for those who appreciate classic design and craftsmanship but want the reliability and performance of a modern machine.
While the Halcyon 450 isn't built for speed, it excels at turning heads. Its design invites double-takes, as onlookers try to discern whether it's a restored classic, a clever restomod, or a custom-built special. The hand-painted decals and pinstripes contribute to the bike's authentic vintage look, making it a "living dinosaur" on modern roads.
