The upcoming Jawa 350 will be powered by the same engine from the Perak.
It has been quite some time since Jawa has launched a new motorcycle. However, this spell is about to be broken for the brand recently launched a new teaser. The snippet showcases the front of the motorcycle and it is most likely the roadster Jawa (yes, it’s the same name as the company’s) and the launch date has been scheduled for January 15.
We recently caught a glimpse of the test mule of this upcoming motorcycle. We suspect that the new roadster will be called Jawa 350. For Jawa has been playing up on its ‘350’ legacy on its social media platform for quite some time now, thereby the likelihood of this moniker making a comeback is high.
Mechanically, the ‘Jawa 350’ will be powered by the same 334cc, single-cylinder mill that is also available with the brand’s bobbers, the Jawa Perak and Jawa 42. The engine tune is likely to be altered and the spirited performance that one occasionally finds with the bobbers is likely to be toned down in the roadster.
Otherwise, the twin-exhaust set-up and flat-mounted console that we see with the current generation Jawa roadster motorcycles will continue as it is. Moreover, the rear tyre also appears wider and the whole chassis seems to sit higher than the current Jawa model. This development should help resolve the issue of bottoming out due to the low ground clearance, especially when riding with a pillon, with the new model.
The current Jawa model is priced at ₹2.03 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), and given that the Perak is priced at ₹2.13, we hope Jawa prices the upcoming ‘350’ model in the same range. The updates should give it a better chance against competitors which include the likes of the Royal Enfield Classic 350, Harley-Davidson X440, and the upcoming Hero Mavrick 440.
