Unlike the Jawa 42 which is powered by the J-Panther engine, the new Jawa 42 FJ gets the bigger Alpha-2 series engine.
Jawa Motorcycles has expanded its line-up by introducing the new Jawa 42 FJ, honouring the man who gave birth to the brand: František Janeček. Although a roadster, the new Jawa 42 FJ ushers in new aesthetics and gains a few upgrades. So here’s what’s different between the Jawa 42 and the new Jawa 42 FJ.
The Jawa 42 FJ is powered by the bigger 334 cc Alpha-2 engine that produces 28.80 bhp and 29.6 Nm. Meanwhile, the Jawa 42 continues to be powered by the smaller 294.72 cc J-Panther series engine that produces 26.94 bhp and 26.84 Nm torque. Both bikes equip a six-speed gearbox and a slipper clutch.
One of the most visible changes on the new Jawa 42 FJ is how the bike has become beefier than its original counterpart. While the iconic Jawa shape has been retained, changes on the side panels and a slightly smaller fuel tank at 12 litres, unlike the 12.5-litre tank available with the 42, the new Jawa 42 FJ looks relatively proportional. Making matters more pleasant is the introduction of the latest colour options. The Jawa 42 FJ has been introduced with six new colour options. In contrast, the Jawa 42 is available with seven colour options, four dual-tone colour options, and three single-tone colour options. Moreover, the latter is also available with chrome options, whereas the 42 FJ isn’t available with chrome options as such.
Both the Jawa 42 and Jawa 42 FJ are available with the benefit of a fully-digital instrument cluster. However, with the Jawa 42 FJ, there’s also the advantage of a C-type USB charging port and an all-LED lighting setup.
Lastly, the Jawa 42 FJ is priced from ₹1.99 lakh to ₹2.20 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi), while the Jawa 42 is comparatively affordable starting from ₹1.73 lakh and going up to ₹1.99 lakh (both ex-showroom price, Delhi).
