JSW Motors is expected to launch the Jetour T2-based hybrid SUV in India by Diwali 2026.
JSW Motors is moving ahead with plans to introduce a Jetour T2-based SUV in India through its partnership with China’s Chery, with a rumoured debut targeted around Diwali 2026. A recently released teaser offers an early look at the SUV’s silhouette, highlighting its upright stance along with distinctive LED headlamps and fog lights.
The India-spec version has appeared in a dealer recruitment campaign, signalling the brand’s preparations to build a retail network ahead of launch. For those unaware, JSW plans to launch a new car range in India under its own brand, outside its joint venture with MG Motor.
JSW Motors had previously warned that its first car launch risks delay without faster government approval for Chinese-sourced parts. The firm urged India's Ministry of Heavy Industries in December to expedite certification for suppliers of safety glass components, including windshields and sunroofs. Delays trace to 2020 quality rules requiring local certification for overseas vendors, adding time, cost, and complexity amid broader geopolitical tensions over Chinese imports.

The Jetour T2 is based on a monocoque platform and adopts a bold, boxy design inspired by iconic off-roaders such as the Land Rover Defender and Toyota Land Cruiser Prado. Despite its rugged visual appeal, it remains a five-seat SUV.
Powertrain options are expected to align with JSW’s focus on electrified mobility. The India-bound version is expected to feature a plug-in hybrid system combining a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine producing 154 bhp and 220 Nm with dual front-mounted electric motors generating a combined 221 bhp and 390 Nm. A 26.7 kWh battery pack is claimed to deliver a pure electric range of up to 139 km on the NEDC cycle.
Inside, the Jetour T2 offers a modern and tech-focused cabin. Key highlights include a chunky steering wheel, a 15.6-inch touchscreen infotainment system, and a 10.25-inch digital driver’s display. Other expected features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, powered and ventilated front seats, automatic climate control, and a 12-speaker Sony sound system. We expect most of these features to make their way on JSW’s version as well.
On the safety front, the SUV is likely to feature a comprehensive suite including a 360-degree camera, Level 2 ADAS, and hill-start and hill-descent assist. JSW aims to position the model in the ₹15 lakh to ₹30 lakh bracket, placing it in competition with rivals such as the Mahindra XUV7XO, MG Hector, and Tata Safari.
