Kawasaki Introduces The New KLX 230 S

Kawasaki has unveiled the upgraded KLX 230S for 2024, giving this dual-sport motorcycle a comprehensive update to make it more rider-friendly while not compromising on its abilities.

Major changes have been made to the chassis, including the rear subframe, allowing for longer wheel travel. Additionally, a longer seat is a byproduct of these modifications. The seat height is now at 845 mm, but the ground clearance increases to 241 mm. The seat is thicker and features a dual-tone paint scheme.

The chassis is upheld by a 37mm telescopic fork with a massive 200mm of travel. A new Uni-Trak linkage shock, preload-adjustable, allows for 226 mm of travel. Some weight savings are also accomplished with the new aluminium swingarm. The bike rolls on 21-inch front and 18-inch rear aluminium wheels. It features a 240mm front petal disc gripped by a 2-piston calliper and a 220 mm rear disc with a single-piston calliper. Dual-channel ABS is available, but now riders can switch off ABS for both the front and rear wheel.

The engine is a 233cc single-cylinder air-cooled motor. Previously, it produced 19 bhp and 20 Nm of torque. Now, it has been tuned for improved low-end and midrange performance. The ECU fuel map and the final drive ratio of 15 to 45 have been modified to enhance overall performance. The engine is mated to a 6-speed gearbox. The 7.5-liter fuel tank is sufficient for off-road usage.

The styling now aligns with the KX series, boasting clean lines that contribute to its sharp appearance. The LED headlight adds a modern touch. The wide handlebar and elongated seat provide ample room for adjusting body position, enhancing the overall riding experience.

New for 2024 is the smartphone connectivity with the Rideology app. Riders can now tap into vehicle details, track their journeys with GPS-informed logs, receive smartphone notifications on the LCD display, maintain a digital service log, and connect with other riders through shared communications on the app.

Currently, the price of the Kawasaki KLX230 RS is ₹5.21 lakh. The 2024 Kawasaki KLX 230 S has seen a slight price increase in the US market, with the non-ABS KLX230 S priced at $4,999 (₹4.15 lakh) and the variant with ABS at $5,299 (₹ 4.40 lakh). It is expected to experience a more substantial rise in the Indian market.
