Kia India launched the Carens Clavis EV in India last week, and it will open the order books for the electric MPV in India on July 22, 2025. The Clavis EV can be booked either online or through Kia India’s dealerships by paying a token amount of ₹25,000.
The Clavis EV is the most affordable 7 seater electric vehicle in India, and its prices start at ₹17.99 lakh and go up to ₹24.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India). The Clavis EV comes in four variants – HTK+, HTX, HTX LR, HTX+ LR. It rivals the likes of the Hyundai Creta Electric (₹17.99 - 23.50 lakh), Mahindra BE 6 (₹18.90 - 26.90 lakh), Tata Curvv EV (₹17.49 - 21.99 lakh) and MG ZS EV (₹17.99 - 20.50 lakh).
The electric version of the Clavis is quite similar to the ICE version but has its own subtle differences like a connected LED light bar at the front, a front bumper-mounted charging port, EV-specific alloy wheels and active air flaps in the front bumper. The Clavis EV is available in six colour options – Glacier White Pearl, Gravity Gray, Aurora Black Pearl, Pewter Olive, Imperial Blue, and Ivory Silver Matte.
Inside, the Clavis EV gets features like two 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster, a panoramic sunroof, connected car tech, 64-colour ambient lighting, connected car tech and more. Safety features include ADAS, six airbags, ABS with EBD, three-point seatbelts with reminders, ISOFIX, hill assist control and the likes.
It gets two battery pack options – a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh. The former has a claimed range of 404 km, while the latter has a claimed range of 490 km. Both support 100 kW DC fast charging, allowing the battery to be charged from 10-80 per cent in 39 mins. With an 11 kW AC charger, the smaller battery pack can be fully juiced up in 4 hours, while the larger battery pack takes 4 hours and 45 minutes. With the smaller battery pack, the electric motor produces 133 bhp and 169 bhp with the larger battery pack. Regardless of the battery pack, the e-motor produces 255 Nm.
