Kia India will launch the Carens Clavis EV in the country in July, a few dealer sources confirmed to Acko Drive. The Carens Clavis EV will be Kia’s first all-electric MPV in India and is expected to be one of the most affordable electric people movers in the country and the first MPV in the EV segment at this price bracket.

While Kia has not revealed detailed specifications for the Carens Clavis EV, it will not be based on the E-GMP dedicated EV architecture. This approach aims to optimise costs while enabling wider adoption of electric mobility in emerging markets like India.

Design-wise, the Carens Clavis EV is expected to retain most of the styling elements of its ICE counterpart, with some EV-specific tweaks such as revised badging, a blanked-off grille, aero-optimised alloy wheels, and a nose-mounted charging port.

Inside, the Carens EV could borrow premium elements from the newly revealed Kia Clavis. This includes a 26.62-inch dual-screen setup integrating the infotainment and instrument displays, front ventilated seats, a power-adjustable driver’s seat, a BOSE 8-speaker audio system, and ambient lighting.
The Carens Clavis EV is also likely to include Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), as seen on the Clavis ICE variant. Additionally, safety features such as a tyre pressure monitoring system, 360° camera with blind spot monitor, front and rear parking sensors, and a dashcam with dual camera setup are expected to be part of the package. Notably, the Carens Clavis EV may also offer Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) and Vehicle-to-Vehicle (V2V) charging capabilities, allowing users to power external devices or recharge other EVs.
