The Carens Clavis EV is the most affordable all-electric model from Kia India.
Kia India has launched the Carens Clavis EV in India at ₹17.99 lakh. The Clavis EV is the first mass-market electric vehicle for Kia India. The Clavis EV will be the all-electric version of the Carens Clavis MPV, which is essentially the facelifted version of the Carens. Bookings will begin on July 22, 2025.
Variant | Price (ex-showroom, India) |
---|---|
HTK+ (Standard Range) | ₹17.99 lakh |
HTX (Standard Range) | ₹20.49 lakh |
HTX (Long Range) | ₹22.49 lakh |
HTX+ (Long Range) | ₹24.49 lakh |
Since it is based on the Carens Clavis, it shares the majority of its design language with the ICE version, but of course, with certain EV-specific touches. It has the charging port in the front, like the Hyundai Creta Electric, with the same four dots indicating the charging status.
At the front, it also has a full-width LED light bar, which was there on the Carens Clavis ICE but wasn’t lit up. It also gets a different design, a very EV-specific look, for the 17-inch alloy wheels. It also comes with active air flaps in the front bumper as well as a streamlined underbody for better aerodynamics. The Clavis EV also gets a 25-litre frunk.
Inside, the Clavis EV is a little different from the ICE, especially the centre console area. The centre console has this design because the gear selector has been moved to the steering column, like the EV9. Since it has a flat floor due to the under-floor battery, it has a floating centre like the Kia EV6 and EV9. Apart from this, the majority of the interior is the same as the Clavis ICE. The Clavis EV is only available as a 7-seater, while the ICE also comes as a 6-seater.
In terms of features, the Clavis EV comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment touchscreen, a 12.3-inch virtual cluster and a swappable screen for AC and media, air purifier, powered driver's seat, ventilated front seats, wireless charger and panoramic sunroof. It also comes with vehicle-to-load (V2L) with external and internal ports as well as 90 connected car tech features. Safety features include 6 airbags, ISOFIX, stability control, a Virtual Engine Sound System (VESS) and ADAS.
The Clavis EV has the same battery and motor combinations as the Creta Electric. It has a 42 kWh and a 51.4 kWh battery pack with an electric motor mounted on the front axle. However, the range at 490 km (claimed) with the bigger battery pack is better than the Creta Electric's 473 km claimed range. The smaller 42 kWh battery pack has a claimed range of 404 km. The larger battery can be charged from 10-80 per cent in 39 minutes using a 100 kW DC charger. It also comes with regen modes, with a new Auto mode that adapts to the driving conditions. The Clavis EV will come with 7.4 kW and 11 kW AC home charger options.
The Clavis EV is a unique model in the Indian automotive industry. It competes directly with the BYD eMAX 7 (₹26.90 - 29.90 lakh) but also with the Toyota Innova Hycross (₹19.09 - 32.58 lakh) and Maruti Suzuki Invicto (₹25.51 - 29.32 lakh)
