The Carens Clavis gets three engine options and four transmission options.
Kia India’s latest MPV, which is the facelifted Carens, made its global debut in India earlier this month and it will launch in India on May 23. It is expected to be priced between ₹12.5 - 22.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Ahead of its launch next week, Kia India has revealed the fuel efficiency figures of the Carens Clavis.
The Carens Clavis will have three engine options: a 1.5-litre petrol, a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol, and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. Engine options include a 6-speed manual, a 6-speed iMT, a 6-speed torque converter automatic and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic.
Kia Carens Clavis Powertrains | Fuel Efficiency |
---|---|
Petrol MT | 15.34 kmpl |
Diesel MT | 19.54 kmpl |
Diesel AT | 17.50 kmpl |
Turbo-petrol MT | 15.95 kmpl |
Turbo-petrol iMT | 15.95 kmpl |
Turbo-petrol DCT | 16.66 kmpl |
The 1.5-litre petrol engine is only available with the 6-speed manual, while both the others also get the option of an automatic version. The turbo-petrol also has the maximum number of transmission options on offer - a 6-speed manual (new for Clavis), a 6-speed iMT and a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, which are a carry-over from the Carens.
Coming to the fuel efficiency figures, the 1.5-litre petrol manual powertrain has a fuel efficiency of 15.34 kmpl, which is the lowest figure for any powertrain in the Clavis. The diesel is the most fuel-efficient as it returns 19.54 kmpl with the manual transmission and 17.50 kmpl with the 6-speed automatic. The turbo-petrol sits in the middle as it has a fuel efficiency of 15.95 kmpl with the 6-speed manual and the 6-speed iMT, and 16.66 kmpl with the 7-speed dual-clutch auto.
As mentioned, the Carens Clavis will be priced between ₹12.5 - 22.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and will rival the likes of Maruti Suzuki Invicto (₹25.51 - 29.22 lakh), Toyota Innova Hycross (₹19.09 - 31.34 lakh), BYD eMAX 7 (₹26.90 - 29.90 lakh) and the Maruti Suzuki XL6 (₹11.84 - 14.84 lakh).
