The capability works with all cars equipped with Kia's Connected Car Navigation Cockpit.

Kia India has announced what it calls an industry-first initiative called Plant Remote OTA, which allows it to update the software of its cars after manufacturing but before they are sent into distribution channels. This means that cars will have the latest software already installed and ready to be used when they reach dealerships or customers. The advantage is that end users can avoid a long update process and get started using their infotainment and other car features more quickly.

The company says this improves the buying as well as ownership experiences for its customers. Plant Remote OTA updates mean that car buyers don’t have to spend extra time at a dealership or waiting for updates to download and install before their cars are ready to be driven. This also allows security and navigation updates to be delivered more quickly, eliminating gaps that could occur between manufacturing and sale. Buyers will always get the latest experience, ensuring consistency as well as access to the newest features, performance updates, and bug fixes.

Plant Remote OTA updates will work with all Kia units that are equipped with its Connected Car Navigation Cockpit and Connected Car System 2.0, and will be extended to all upcoming models.

Kia India hopes this will improve customer satisfaction, particularly post-purchase, strengthening its tech-forward positioning
