The Syros will be Kia India’s second subcompact SUV.
Kia India’s latest subcompact SUV, the Syros, will make its global debut in India on December 19. The Syros will slot between the Sonet and Seltos in the South Korean brand’s line-up. More information about the Syros will be revealed closer to the debut.

The Syros will measure under 4 metres, making it Kia’s second subcompact SUV. It will have a boxy stance, with an upright nose and tail. Up front, it’ll come with vertical LED headlamps and vertical LED DRLs. It will also get roof rails but whether they will be functional or only cosmetic remains to be seen.

Inside, the Kia Syros is confirmed to get a panoramic sunroof. However, it will not be the first subcompact SUV with this feature, as the Mahindra XUV 3XO and Tata Nexon already have it. For perspective, the Kia Sonet only gets a single-pane sunroof. Other features likely to be included in the Syros are a 10.25-inch infotainment touchscreen, a virtual instrument cluster, 360-degree camera, wireless charger and ADAS.

Under the hood, the Syros is likely to have the same powertrain options as the Sonet. Expect the new subcompact SUV to come with a 1.2-litre petrol engine, a 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine or a 1.5-litre diesel engine mated to either a 5-speed manual, 6-speed iMT, 6-speed AT or a 7-speed DCT.

Prices for the Syros are expected to start around ₹9 lakh (ex-showroom, India). Once launched, it will rival the Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue and the upcoming Skoda Kylaq.
