The Syros will be Kia’s second subcompact SUV in India.
Kia India has released the first teaser of its upcoming Syros SUV and the teaser reveals interesting information about the new subcompact SUV. The Syros will be positioned above the Kia Sonet but will still be a sub-4 metre SUV, and will have distinctive styling to set itself apart from established competitors in the segment.
The teaser confirms the new Syros will have vertical LED DRLs with three LED projector lamps in both headlamp clusters. While the teaser is quite dark, it does also hint that the fascia will be similar to new global models from Kia like the EV3. The Syros will also have a clamshell-like bonnet that slopes inwards towards the top and the bonnet line extends into the top part of the grille. The Syros will also get roof rails, but whether they will be functional remains to be seen. Previous teasers of the Syros also hint that it will get high-mounted, L-shaped LED taillamps and flush-fitting door handles.
While the teaser only shows the front of the upcoming Syros, it also reveals that the subcompact SUV will get a panoramic sunroof. But the Syros won’t be the first subcompact SUV to get a panoramic sunroof as the Mahindra XUV 3XO and Tata Nexon already get it. Other bits of the interior aren’t visible in the teaser but Kia says the interior will be “lounge-like” with “futuristic features and an innovative seating layout,” suggesting a focus on rear passenger comfort.
Kia India is yet to confirm the powertrain details of the Syros but we expect it to get internal combustion engine (ICE) and electric (EV) powertrain options. The ICE is likely to arrive first, followed by the EV.
