KTM and Husqvarna are set to launch two electric street bikes in 2025 in Europe. Details are limited, but this is a significant move in the electric motorcycle market.
According to leaked documents filed with the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the KTM Electric Freeride and the Husqvarna Electric Pioneer are the two new model names. They are expected to be available in 2025.
The powertrains of the KTM Electric Freeride and Husqvarna Electric Pioneer are expected to be identical. The latter is anticipated to have a motor rated at 5.54kW (7.43 bhp) or a battery capacity of 5.54 kWh Li-ion. The leaked documents have not given a clear idea of this.
The power rating is lower than that of previous KTM electric models. The Freeride E-XC had a 9 kW rated power, which peaked at 18 kW (24 bhp).

The KTM Electric Freeride and Husqvarna Electric Pioneer are expected to feature a swappable battery system, allowing riders to replace the battery with a fully charged one easily. This is based on the precedent of the Freeride E LV set, which also came with a removable battery pack. Moreover, KTM's involvement as a founding member of the European Swappable Batteries Motorcycle Consortium, which aims to standardise swappable bike batteries, further supports the likelihood of swappable batteries in the upcoming models.
Previously there was a Husqvarna E-Pilen is a concept electric motorcycle that was unveiled in 2022. It's based on the same chassis as the KTM 390 Duke but with an electric powertrain. The E-Pilen has a sleek and modern design focusing on urban commuting. It was shown to have a range of around 160 km on a single charge. We expect this leaked bike to be a iteration of this concept.

The leaked VIN decoding document also suggests Husqvarna will add a Vitpilen 801 alongside the Svartpilen 801. The two bikes will share a platform, with the Vitpilen 801 having a more street-focused design, slicker tyres and lower bars, as seen in previous prototypes.
