The 19 electric buses have traversed over 10.50 lakh km and serve around 1,500 passengers daily.

In a year since the 19 electric buses (e-buses) have been in service in Ladakh, they have traversed over 10.50 lakh km. PMI Electro Mobility Solution’s e-buses serve an average of 1,500 passengers daily.

PMI Electro Mobility claims that these buses have curbed CO2 emissions by roughly 25.20 lakh km in the past year and this is expected to increase over the next decade and a half when the lifecycle of these buses is supposed to end. Regenerative braking systems incorporated in these e-buses have helped them recover energy and recharge the onboard batteries.

Zulfikar Ali, KAS, Deputy Director, District Motor Garages, said, “e-Buses have had a transformative impact on public transport in the region and look forward to increasing the fleet in the future. Given Ladakh's extreme temperatures, besides running smoothly, PMI Electro’s e-Buses feature a state-of-the-art heating, ventilation, and air-conditioning system to maintain a stable internal temperature, taking care of passenger comfort despite the harsh climatic conditions of Ladakh.”

Aanchal Jain, CEO of PMI Electro Mobility Solutions, commented, “Climate change is affecting everyone globally, and most countries are taking necessary steps to reduce their carbon footprint.” She added, “We are happy to contribute to this journey for Ladakh through our electric buses, which stand as a testament to our commitment to supporting the larger goal.”

The e-buses are designed to prioritise passenger comfort by incorporating features such as cantilever mounting and plastic moulded seats. The e-buses have also been fitted with security cameras as well as an Intelligent Transportation Management System (ITMS) software that helps with the management of the buses.
