Mahindra Racing continuing its sustained commitment to the Formula E championship. Having competed since 2014, the manufacturer has unveiled its M12 Electro racing machine in updated livery at an Indian event. While the racing team pursues additional podium results this season, Anand Mahindra, Chairman of the Mahindra Group, has announced the organisation's continuation as a Gen4 manufacturer. This positions Mahindra as the sixth constructor to join the Gen4 manufacturers' roster.
Through a video posted on Instagram, Mahindra presented his perspective regarding Formula E and Mahindra's involvement in the series. The announcement aligns with the team's committed partnership within the competition extending through 2030.
The upcoming Gen4 vehicles are scheduled to make their competitive debut during the 2026/27 ABB FIA Formula E World Championship season. The Gen4 represents a fundamental shift in electric racing technology, delivering 600kW of available power (approximately equivalent to over 815bhp) alongside active all-wheel drive throughout every phase of competition.
The Gen4 establishes itself as motorsport's most environmentally conscious racing vehicle, advancing circular design principles at every development stage. Its construction utilises 100 per cent recyclable materials, establishing an unprecedented standard for ecological accountability within competitive racing.
Regarding aerodynamic architecture, the Gen4 incorporates two distinct configurations: a high-downforce specification optimised for qualifying sessions, and a low-downforce arrangement engineered specifically for race conditions.
The powertrain specifications include 450kW peak race power, 600kW Attack Mode capability for decisive overtaking manoeuvres, improved 700kW regenerative braking capacity, and race energy storage reaching 55kWh -- enabling more ambitious race strategies and extended competitive potential.
