Mahindra hasn’t yet confirmed the launch of the Scorpio Pik Up in India but chances are high that the Chakan-based manufacturer will bring out the pickup truck in the future.

Mahindra unveiled the Global Pik Up Concept in South Africa in August 2023. Based on the Scorpio-N, this upcoming pickup truck has been in the making for a long time. In fact, test mules of the same have been spotted on numerous occasions over the last year or so.

Details regarding the Scorpio Pik Up have been scarce mostly because the market for pickup trucks in the Indian passenger vehicle market has never scaled any significant heights. Models like Toyota Hilux and Isuzu D-Max V-Cross are able to find very few buyers, with sales not able to breach even the 1000-unit mark on an average monthly basis.

Now, we have come across a significant development regarding the upcoming Global Pik Up. It has now come to light the Scorpio-N-based pickup truck will only be offered with a diesel powertrain. This has been confirmed by Mahindra at its recent investor day meet a few days last week. Contrary to previous reports, the upcoming Scorpio Pik Up will not be offered in petrol or fully-electric powertrains.

Codenamed Z121, it has also been revealed that the Scorpio Pik Up will be offered solely in a dual-cab configuration which suggests that it will be offered as a lifestyle passenger vehicle rather than a light commercial vehicle. The Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up is expected to carry forward the familiar design cues of the Scorpio N while incorporating a large flatbed capable of accommodating substantial cargo.

Mahindra Scorpio Pik Up: Expected Features & Specs

Inside, it is likely to share the same dashboard layout and features as the Scorpio N, offering premium amenities such as ventilated seats, automatic climate control, a powered driver’s seat, an auto-dimming IRVM, front and rear armrests, rear AC vents, a single-pane sunroof, a cooled glovebox, cruise control, Level 2 ADAS, six airbags, and more.

The Scorpio Pik Up will most likely be powered by a very familiar 2.2-litre mHawk diesel engine that is employed in the Scorpio N. In the SUV, this oil burner pushes out 172 bhp and torque of  370 Nm in MT and 400 Nm in AT. Transmission duties are carried out either by a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic. Higher variants also get an optional 4x4 drivetrain with low-range transfer cars.
