On August 15, 2025, Mahindra revealed not one but four new concept SUVs, keeping its tradition alive of revealing new products and concepts on the Indian Independence Day. This year, Mahindra unveiled a new platform too, the nu_iQ, and it spawned four concepts – Vision.S, Vision.X, Vision.T and Vision.SXT. Let’s take a deep dive into the most hardcore-looking off-roader from the Freedom_NU event.

Mahindra Vision.SXT Concept Design Highlights

The Vision.SXT is a more evolved version of the Vision.T, sharing the same basic design but with more hardcore off-road bits. Key design elements include

  • Upright stance with a short bed
  • Boxy grille and headlamps
  • Square headlamps with vertical DRLs
  • Massive front bumper
  • Two spare wheels in the bed
  • Chunky off-road tyres
  • A small roll cage on the bed
  • Stubby taillamps
  • Rear door handles on the C-pillar

This version will probably have the best off-road capability of all the other concepts shown by Mahindra. Along with this, it will also serve as a lifestyle vehicle.

Platform, Size and Powertrains

  • Based on Mahindra’s new nu_iQ platform
  • Wheelbase: 2665 mm
  • Length (compact): Up to 4230 mm
  • Will support multiple powertrains – ICE (petrol/diesel) and EV (electric)
  • Drivetrain options: FWD or AWD, depending on the model

Interior and Features

While Mahindra has not yet revealed the Vision.SXT's interior, it is anticipated to share a similar layout with the Vision.T, featuring digital displays, connected technology, and premium materials, given their shared platform.

Launch Timeline and Rivals

The Mahindra Vision.SXT production model is anticipated to launch after 2027. With its AWD capabilities, it is poised to compete with vehicles like the Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki Jimny. Depending on its final market positioning, it could also rival compact SUVs such as the Hyundai Creta, Tata Harrier, Kia Seltos, and MG Hector.

Global Production from India

All four Vision concepts – S, T, X, and SXT – will be manufactured at Mahindra's Chakan plant in Pune. This highlights the company's dedication to developing "India-first" global SUVs.
