Mahindra’s Vision.X concept SUV was the only one at the Freedom_NU event to not have a boxy, off-roader-like design language. Like the Vision.S, will be part of the subcompact SUV segment. Mahindra also showcased the Vision.S, Vision.T and Vision.SXT at the event, and all four are based on the new nu_iQ platform.

Mahindra’s Independence Day Tradition

Mahindra continues its Independence Day tradition of unveiling innovative products and concepts. On India's 79th Independence Day, the company introduced four new SUVs, including the Vision.T, a coupe-like subcompact SUV.

Mahindra Vision.X Concept Design Highlights

The Vision.X had the most unique design language of all the four concepts on display. The subcompact SUV could be the next generation of the Mahindra XUV 3XO. Key design elements include:

  • A fighter jet inspired face
  • Slim C-shaped LED DRLs and squarish LED headlamps in the bumers
  • A large grille with X-shaped motif
  • 19-inch alloy wheels
  • Connected LED taillamps
  • Transparents fins on the spoiler
  • Coupe-like roofline

The Vision.X could be the most affordable car out of the four showcased at the Freedom_NU event.

Platform, Size, Powertrains

  • Based on Mahindra’s nu_iQ platform
  • Wheelbase: 2665 mm
  • Length (subcompact): Around 3990 mm
  • Will support multiple powertrains – ICE (petrol/diesel) and EV (electric)

Interior and Features

Mahindra hasn’t revealed the cabin of any of the four Vision concepts. The Vision.X will likely get two large screens with one for the infotainment system and one for the instrument cluster. The dashboard is also likely to have a minimalist design.

Launch Timeline and Expected Rivals

Mahindra said the production versions of these concepts will go on sale from 2027 onwards and up to 2030. Once launched, the Vision.X will likely rival the likes of the Tata Nexon, Skoda Kylaq, Kia Sonet, Hyundai Venue, and Maruti Suzuki Brezza.

Built in India for Global Markets

All four Vision concepts – S, T, X, and SXT – will be manufactured at Mahindra’s Chakan plant in Pune, underscoring the company’s commitment to developing India-first global SUVs.
