Mahindra XEV 9S Base Variant: Full Features, Specs, & Key Highlights

Mahindra launched its third Electric Origin SUV in the form of XEV 9S at a starting price of Rs 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the electric mid-size SUV open on 14 January 2026 whereas deliveries are slated to commence 23 January onwards. Although it shares most of its components with the XEV 9E, the Mahindra XEV 9S is priced more aggressively than the former which comes at a starting price of ₹21.90 lakh (ex-showroom). 

The Chakan-based carmaker is offering the XEV 9S in four variants namely Pack One Above, Pack Two Above, Pack Three, and Pack Three Above. It is already well established that the Mahindra XEV 9S is heavily-loaded in terms of features and conveniences. However, most of the glorified features and segment-leading features are reserved for the top-spec variant only. Let us look at what the base variant of Mahindra XEV 9S (Pack One Above) has to offer.

Mahindra XEV 9S Pack One Above: Features

Starting with the exterior, the base variant of Mahindra XEV 9S offers features such as Bi-LED projector automatic headlamps with LED DRLs, LED taillamps, illuminated front and rear logo, ORVMs with integrated turn indicators rear spoiler, automatic wipers, rear wiper, washer, and defogger, and 18-inch steel wheels. Inside the cabin, the XEV 9S base variant gets fabric upholstery, a triple screen layout on the dashboard, and a panoramic sunroof. 

Besides the features mentioned above, the base variant of Mahindra XEV 9S more than a few comfort features such as a single-zone climate control, electrically adjustable ORVM, 6-way adjustable driver’s seat, four-way adjustable front passenger seat with Boss Mode, one-touch up & down powered window for driver’s seat, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, in-built Amazon Alexa  & Chat GPT, connected car suite, and 5G connectivity to name a few.

In terms of safety, the XEV 9S Pack One Above comes loaded with six airbags, ISOFIX child seat mounts, electronic stability program, electric parking brake, reverse camera, and tyre pressure monitoring system. 

Mahindra XEV 9S Pack One Above: Battery & Motor Specs

Mahindra is offering two battery options with the base Pack One Above variant – 59 kWh and 79 kWh, returning a certified range of 521 km and 679 km on a full charge, respectively. The 59 kWh trim is paired to a 170 kW (228 bhp) electric motor whereas the 79 kWh battery is mated to a 210 kW (282 bhp), Torque outputs from both trims stand at 380 Nm. There are four levels of battery regeneration on offer along with a single-pedal driving functionality. Like all the higher variants, the base variant of XEV 9S offers five drive modes including Default, Range, Everyday, Snow, and Race.

Charging options for the Mahindra XEV 9E include 7.2 kW and 11.5 kW AC chargers along with the option of up to 180 kW DC Fast charger. Charging time varies from 6 hours to 11.70 hours for the AC charging points. As for performance, the Mahindra XEV 9S can clock a top speed of 202 kmph and can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.0 seconds , thus claiming to be the fastest seven-seat electric SUV in its class.
