The XEV 9e and BE 6 were to get a new variant with a 59 kWh battery and another with a 79 kWh battery.
Old filings for the Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 on the government's transport website show that Mahindra was planning to introduce the Pack Three 59 kWh and Pack Three Select 79 kWh variants. This information has just started to surface online. While this doesn't seem to be the case, we would have liked to see these new variants being added to the lineup.
This means the XEV 9e was to get a new Pack Three variant with the smaller 59 kWh battery and a new Pack Three Select with the larger 79 kWh battery. This would have also applied to the BE 6, as it will also get the Pack Three 59 kWh and Pack Three Select 79 kWh variants. Currently, the Pack Three is only available with the 79 kWh battery pack, while the Pack Three Select only gets the 59 kWh battery pack.
Mahindra was planning to broaden the range by giving customers a wider variety to choose mid-spec variants with the bigger battery pack. This will allow customers to get the maximum possible range, without spending too much for a top-spec variant.
About when and if Mahindra will launch these two new variants for both the e-SUVs remains. As mentioned earlier, this would have given the buyers more choice as the higher range variants could have become more accessible.
