The XUV 3XO will be the facelifted version of the XUV300 subcompact SUV.
Shortly after registering new names for its upcoming SUVs, Mahindra has confirmed that it will be using one of these for an upcoming model. The XUV 3XO is likely to be the name used for the facelifted XUV300. Mahindra also said the XUV 3XO will make its global debut on April 29. Like other Mahindra XUV models, the 3XO is pronounced as three-ex-oh.
The XUV 3XO will feature a very different design compared to the XUV300 it is set to replace. The XUV 3XO has C-shaped LED DRLs, encasing two vertically mounted projector lamps. The grille will also have a new pattern with a thick bar connecting the upper portions of the headlamps and a chrome strip at the bottom.
At the back, the XUV 3XO also has C-shaped LED taillamps that are joined by an LED light bar. Underneath that, the big Mahindra ‘Twin Peaks’ logo and XUV 3XO lettering adorn the tailgate. The XUV 3XO will have a new design for the dual-tone, 17-inch alloy wheels.
The interior of the XUV 3XO is not visible but the seats get a new diamond pattern and the refreshed dashboard will have new physical controls including a volume knob. The XUV 300 was a bit lacking in terms of features compared to its rivals. It comes with a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, while most others get an 8-, 9- or 10.25-inch unit. Expect the XUV 3XO to get the 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system from the XUV400.
Most of the competition, like the Kia Sonet and Tata Nexon, also comes with features like ventilated seats. If Mahindra wants to gain an advantage over its rivals, the ventilated seats will be a welcome addition. Mahindra claims the XUV 3XO will have segment-leading features, what they’ll be, remains to be seen.
Under the hood, the XUV 3XO will likely have the same powertrain options as the XUV300. It is likely to get a 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine in two states of tune and a 1.5-litre diesel engine. It will also likely get the existing 6-speed manual gearbox and the 6-speed AMT. The XUV300 is the only subcompact SUV to get an AMT, while all others also get the option of a torque converter automatic, dual-clutch automatic as well as a CVT.
