The Pik Up was first showcased as a concept in South Africa on August 15.
Mahindra & Mahindra showcased the Global Pik Up in South Africa on August 15, and now the Scorpio N-based pickup truck has been spotted testing in India. In the spy shots, the Pik Up can be seen with different elements compared to the concept. Let’s look deeper into what’s different and what’s visible in the spy shots.
Only the rear of the Pik Up can be seen in the spy shots and it can be seen with a standard pickup bed, instead of the rugged and muscular bed seen in the concept. The spy shots show only a single pull-type handle in the middle, suggesting that the tailgate is hinged at the bottom. Additionally, the taillights on the test mule seem like the ones seen on previous-gen Scorpio with three ovals. It can also be seen with a basic roll cage in the bed.
Even in profile, the test mule can be seen with a similar silhouette to the Scorpio N till the C-pillar and the pickup bed seems like an afterthought. It could also be so since it is the first prototype and future test mules will have it fit better.
The front and interior of the Mahindra Pik Up test mule were not visible in the spy shot but expect it to be largely similar to the Scorpio N.
The Pik Up is expected to come with features like an 8-inch touchscreen, connected car tech, semi-digital instrument cluster, automatic climate control, and most importantly, ADAS.
Mechanically, the Pik Up will be very similar to the Scorpio N and will have a diesel engine that will be paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox. It will also get 4WD and shift-on-fly capability. Expect more details to be revealed at a later date and it remains to be seen if Mahindra will launch this pickup truck in India.
