After several delays, Maruti Suzuki is finally geared up to launch the e Vitara in India on 2 December 2025. The e Vitara will mark the Indo-Japanese carmaker’s entry into the electric passenger vehicle segment. The electric SUV made its debut in India earlier in January this year at the Auto Expo, while production for the same commenced in August at Suzuki’s Hansalpur factory in Gujarat.

More than 7,000 units of the e Vitara have been shipped overseas since exports commenced in August, with the United Kingdom being its top importer. As the launch gets nearer, Maruti continues testing the e Vitara. Another test mule of the e Vitara was snapped testing again. From the looks of it, the spy images suggest final rounds of testing for the e Vitara before it is released into the market.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Expected Design

The latest spy shots show a testing of the e Vitara completely under wraps, yet design details are evident. Based on Suzuki’s new “High-Tech & Adventure” design philosophy, the e Vitara is built around the idea of an Emotional Versatile Cruiser. Its front fascia features distinctive Y-shaped LED DRLs integrated into the headlamp cluster, complemented by extended LED tail lamps and a bold bumper with neatly housed fog lamps.

Along the sides, pronounced wheel arches and C-pillar–mounted rear door handles create a clean, modern profile, while 18-inch aerodynamic alloy wheels enhance its visual appeal. At the rear, the tailgate is finished with a silver-accented Suzuki emblem and an “e Vitara” branding.

Maruti will offer the e Vitara in 10 colour options—six mono-tone and four dual-tone. The mono-tone palette includes Nexa Blue, Grandeur Grey, Splendid Silver, Arctic White, Opulent Red, and Bluish Black. Dual-tone choices pair Arctic White, Opulent Red, Splendid Silver, and Land Breeze Green with a contrasting Bluish Black roof.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Expected Interiors & Features

Inside, the e Vitara comes equipped with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 10.1-inch fully digital instrument cluster. The cabin also offers premium touches such as front ventilated seats and a 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat. Significantly, it will be the first Maruti Suzuki model in India to feature Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).

On the safety front, the SUV includes up to seven airbags, a tyre pressure monitoring system, front and rear parking sensors, a 360-degree camera, and several other advanced safety technologies.

Maruti Suzuki e Vitara: Expected Battery & Motor Specs

The e Vitara is built on the newly developed Heartect-e platform, co-engineered with Toyota. It uses an integrated eAxle that houses both the electric motor and inverter, paired with lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries.

Internationally, Suzuki offers the e Vitara with two battery choices — 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The 49 kWh version comes exclusively in a 2WD layout, producing 142 bhp and 189 Nm of torque. The larger 61 kWh battery is available in two configurations: a single-motor 2WD generating 172 bhp and 189 Nm, and a top-end dual-motor AWD variant rated at 181 bhp and 300 Nm of torque.

As per the WLTP cycle, the e Vitara 61 kWh FWD delivers the highest range at 428 km, followed by the AWD variant at 394 km. The entry-level 49 kWh FWD version offers a range of 344 km. As previously reported, the FWD e Vitara will debut in India with the larger battery pack, providing an ARAI-rated range of over 500 km, while the dual-motor version is expected to join the lineup at a later stage.
