Maruti Suzuki has confirmed the new e Vitara is finally slated for launch later this month. The automaker's first-ever EV will be sold exclusively via Nexa dealerships, and test drives will begin shortly after the price announcement.

After multiple delays, Maruti Suzuki is finally set to launch the e Vitara with prices slated to be announced later this month. Test drives for the new EV will begin shortly after the price announcement. The e Vitara made its global debut in late 2024, while the India reveal was held at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo in January 2025. The wait for Maruti’s first EV has only extended since with the launch yet to take place. Meanwhile, exports for the e Vitara commenced last year.

The new Maruti e Vitara will be sold through the brand’s premium Nexa dealer network. The electric SUV will be available with two battery packs - 49 kWh and 61 kWh. The former produces 142 bhp, while the latter churns out 172 bhp. Peak torque output on both options remains the same at 192.5 Nm. The India-spec model gets a single motor, while the international version gets a dual-motor setup with all-wheel drive.

Maruti claims a range of up to 344 km (49 kWh) and 543 km (61 kWh) on a single charge. Both figures are ARAI certified. The e Vitara will be available in three trims- Delta, Zeta, and Alpha. The 61 kWh battery pack will be offered on the top two trims.

The Maruti Suzuki e Vitara has a lot going for it. The feature stack is loaded with a 10.1-inch digital instrument console, a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, 10-way electrically adjustable driver’s seat, ventilated front seats, Harman sound system, reclining and sliding functions for the rear seats, a panoramic sunroof, and lots more.

It also scores big on safety, having received a five-star safety rating from Bharat NCAP. The electric SUV is based on the dedicated Heartect-e platform, which uses 50 per cent high-tensile strength steel, promising higher structural rigidity. There’s also seven airbags, electronic parking brake, all disc brakes, TPMS, ISOFIX anchorages, and more.

Maruti will be entering a highly competitive segment with the e Vitara. The electric offering will take on some interesting rivals including the Mahindra BE 6, Tata Curvv EV, MG Windsor EV, VinFast VF 6, Hyundai Creta Electric, and the upcoming Toyota Urban Cruiser Ebella, the e Vitara’s badge-engineered cousin.
