The utility vehicle segment emerged as the strongest performer for Maruti Suzuki.
Maruti Suzuki India Limited, the country's leading automobile maker, hit a significant milestone in January 2025 by registering its highest-ever monthly sales volume. The company reported total sales of 2,36,963 units, which is a 12 per cent year-on-year growth compared to January 2024.
The automaker's total dispatches for the month reached 2,12,251 units in January 2025, reflecting strong performance across multiple segments.

Domestic passenger vehicle dispatches to dealerships stood at 1,74,529 units, showing minimal growth from 1,73,599 units recorded in the corresponding month last year.
The mini segment, comprising the Alto and S-Presso models, witnessed a slight uptick with sales reaching 14,268 units compared to 14,247 units in January 2025.
In January 2026, the domestic automaker saw booking growth at almost 25 per cent as compared to January 2025, ACKO Drive learnt.
"We have close to 1.75 lakh units pending bookings; which is more than the usual one month booking," the company said in a statement.
However, the compact car category experienced a decline. Models including the Baleno, Dzire, Ignis, and Swift collectively sold 72,738 units, down from 82,241 units in the year-ago period.
The utility vehicle segment emerged as the strongest performer for Maruti Suzuki. The portfolio, featuring the Grand Vitara, Brezza, Ertiga, and XL6, recorded sales of 75,609 units last month, marking a substantial increase from 65,093 units sold in January 2024.
In its official statement, Maruti Suzuki noted: "Owing to the GST reform, there was a sharp recovery in the Indian car market, primarily led by the small car segment."
The Eeco van registered sales of 11,914 units compared to 11,250 units in the same month of 2024. Meanwhile, the light commercial vehicle Super Carry saw sales of 3,771 units, marginally lower than the 4,089 units sold previously.
The company's international operations demonstrated exceptional growth, with exports reaching 51,020 units in January 2025 -- nearly doubling from 27,100 units shipped in January 2024.
The automobile manufacturer's third-quarter results revealed modest growth that fell short of analyst projections. The company posted a standalone net profit of Rs 3,794 crore for the October-December 2024 quarter, compared to Rs 3,659.30 crore in the corresponding quarter of the previous year -- a 3.7 per cent increase.
Market analysts had anticipated profit growth ranging between 24 per cent and 35 per cent for the quarter.
The company's profitability was impacted by weak export performance and a substantial one-time provision of Rs 593.9 crore allocated for implementing new labour codes, despite achieving record-high quarterly net sales.
