The 600-acre facility currently manufactures eight models.
Maruti Suzuki's Manesar facility has achieved a significant milestone, producing one crore vehicles in 18 years, making it the fastest among Suzuki's global manufacturing facilities to reach this landmark. The one crore vehicle to roll out from the facility is the brand's compact SUV, the Maruti Suzuki Brezza.
The 600-acre facility, which began operations in October 2006, currently manufactures eight models, including the Brezza, Ertiga, XL6, Ciaz, Dzire, Wagon R, S-Presso, and Celerio. These vehicles are sold domestically and exported to Latin America, the Middle East, Africa, and Asian markets.
Speaking on the occasion, Hisashi Takeuchi, Managing Director & CEO, of Maruti Suzuki India Limited, said, "Crossing the one crore cumulative production mark at our Manesar facility is a testament to India's manufacturing capability and our commitment to the larger national goal of 'Make in India'."
The company's total production capacity currently stands at 2.35 million units annually, with cumulative production exceeding 3.11 crore vehicles since its inception. Moreover, the timing of achieving this milestone figure couldn't have been more appropriate, for the Indian brand's overall sales in September registered a modest growth of 1.87 per cent. A significant boost in exports covered up a slight dip in domestic sales – interestingly, sales of popular models like the Baleno, Swift, Wagon R, etc, faced a pronounced decline.
