Maruti Suzuki has already onboarded 28 startups as suppliers in the past six years.
Maruti Suzuki has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Department for Promotion of Industry and Internal Trade (DPIIT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, in a bid to support startups in the automotive and mobility space.
The passenger vehicle major helps startups through four programmes – Accelerator, Incubation, Mobility Challenge and Nurture. Maruti Suzuki has already added 28 startups as its suppliers in the past six years.
Through DPIIT’s Startup India initiative, all recognised startups can participate in Maruti Suzuki’s startup programmes mentioned above. Startups will get a platform to connect with incubators, accelerators and investors.
Rahul Bharti, Senior Executive Officer, Corporate Affairs, Maruti Suzuki, said, “Through this partnership with DPIIT, we will be able to further accelerate our efforts to support promising startups to create technology-led solutions in the automobile manufacturing and mobility space.”
Shri Sanjiv, Joint Secretary, DPIIT, added, “This MoU is a step towards creating a robust platform for startups to transform ideas into market-ready mobility and manufacturing solutions, reinforcing India’s leadership in next-gen industrial innovation.”
