Maruti Suzuki India aims to extend the benefit of the current prices to customers, which saw a reduction due to the GST revision last year, largely benefitting small car buyers.
Maruti Suzuki said it will defer the price hike for the new year by another 15-20 days, amidst a strong momentum in sales for the brand’s small car range. Addressing the media on the first day of the new year, Partho Banerjee, Senior Executive Officer for Marketing and Sales, Maruti Suzuki India, said the automaker aims to extend the benefit of the current prices to customers, which saw a reduction due to the GST revision in September last year. The Maruti Suzuki Alto K10 and S-Presso are the automaker’s most accessible offerings, targeted largely at first-time car buyers.
Partho Banerjee explained that the company has seen bookings for one-and-a-half months pending for small cars, which have seen a rejuvenation in sales this year. The company is evaluating whether to increase prices or revert to pre-GST levels. Maruti extended an additional reduction in small car prices following the GST revision last year. These reduced prices were valid till December 31, 2025. Maruti is now evaluating if the additional reduction should be extended further this year. The decision should be taken later this month.
