The McLaren 750S will be the third product from the company in India after the 765LT and the Artura.
McLaren made its debut in the Indian market last year with the introduction of the 765LT. Following that, they introduced the Artura Grand Tourer. Their latest release is the 750S, positioned as the successor to the 720S, and it is now available at a price of ₹5.91 crore (ex-showroom, India).
The McLaren 750S stands out as the most powerful series-production car available. Under the hood, it houses the familiar 4.0-litre twin-turbo V8, producing an impressive 740 bhp and 800 Nm of peak torque. Notably, it surpasses the legendary P1 in terms of power. What distinguishes it further is its lightweight construction, making it the lightest series-production McLaren road car to date. McLaren achieved a remarkable reduction of 30 kg in total weight compared to the 720S, with the 750S weighing just 1,277 kg (dry). The inclusion of a standard-fit centre exit exhaust, reminiscent of the P1, utilises stainless steel and contributes to a weight saving of 2.2 kg over the 720S.
The power-to-weight ratio of the McLaren 750S results in swift acceleration, propelling it from 0-100 kmph in just 2.8 seconds, achieving 0-200 kmph in 7.2 seconds, and reaching 300 kmph in an additional 4.4 seconds. The top speed, although slightly lower, is an impressive 331 kmph.
The McLaren 750S introduces advanced carbon fibre-shelled alloys, enhancing overall performance and agility. This includes a 6 mm front track expansion, a quicker steering rack, 3 per cent lighter front springs, and 4 per cent firmer rear springs. Additionally, the car features an advanced brake booster for improved pedal responsiveness and an upgraded McLaren Proactive Chassis Control system to manage body roll effectively.
While the 750S is about 70 per cent a nod to its predecessor, it's not shy about getting a makeover. Think of it as a subtle yet stylish transformation – a lowered front bumper, an extended front splitter, and narrower "eye socket" air inlets make it stand out. The rear gets a touch-up too, with wider air inlets at the rear tyre arches and a reworked, longer rear deck for that extra flair. To top it off, the 750S confidently flaunts a longer and higher active rear wing, because who said wings are just for flying? Design updates bring a fresh vibe with a new front bumper, sleeker LED headlamps, and larger air intakes that scream sophistication. Even the driver gets a treat with an updated instrument cluster while shedding a few extra grams with a lightweight windshield – a total weight reduction of 1.8 kg and 1.6 kg, respectively.
The McLaren 750S doesn't just flaunt its powerful performance; it's also a master of interior sophistication. Picture this: full Nappa leather interiors fit for royalty and an Alcantara-draped cockpit that's as luxurious as it sounds. But wait, there's more! McLaren's genius move includes a Control Launcher system, giving you the power to save and retrieve a plethora of customised car settings with just a flick of a switch. And who could forget the Bowers and Wilkins-sourced music system for those refined musical tastes? Plus, seamless Apple CarPlay connectivity ensures you're always in sync. But it does miss out on Android Auto.
