This new model is effectively the high-performance variant of the CLE Cabriolet.
Mercedes-Benz India will introduce the AMG CLE 53 4MATIC+ Coupe on August 12, 2025, widening its portfolio of AMG models in India. This new model is effectively the high-performance variant of the CLE Cabriolet launched in the country earlier this year at ₹1.15 crore (ex-showroom), but featuring a fixed-roof coupe body style and sharp AMG-specific upgrades.
Where the CLE Cabriolet provided an even more open-top luxury drive, the DOHC-powered CLE 53 Coupe introduces a more angular, more purposeful profile. AMG's design enhancements introduce the Panamericana design theme grille, flared wheel arches, bumper extensions specific to AMG, quad exhaust pipes, and, optionally, matte black 20-inch alloy wheels. One of the most visible changes is its more extended track, 58 mm wider at the front and 75 mm wider in the rear, for better stability and cornering traction. The vehicle also features AMG badging, a silver chrome fuel door, and performance aerodynamics to distinguish it from the base CLE.
Power is sourced from a 3.0-litre inline-six petrol engine producing 442 bhp and 560 Nm of torque, matched with AMG's TCT 9G multi-clutch automatic transmission. The 4MATIC+ all-wheel-drive system is standard, allowing a 0-100 kmph time of 4.2 seconds and an electronically limited top speed of 250 kmph. Adaptive suspension and AMG drive modes, are added bonuses for dynamic ability.
The AMG CLE 53 carries over the opulent cabin design of the CLE family but features Nappa leather sports seats, contrast stitching, AMG-exclusive upholstery designs, and a performance steering wheel with drive mode selectors.
A yellow-coloured limited-edition interior pack along with AMG embossing and dark chrome inlays may also be released for India.
The Mercedes-AMG CLE 53 is expected to carry a price tag of around ₹1.35-₹1.40 crore (showroom, India), as it will be directly competing with the BMW M2 (₹1.03 crore) and Audi RS5 (₹1.13 crore), without compromising on either AMG performance or daily use.
With the launch of the CLE 53, Mercedes-Benz India will have more than 15 AMG models across sedans, SUVs, coupes, cabriolets, and electric vehicles, the widest high-performance lineup in India. In the last year alone, the brand has introduced the AMG GT 63 and GT 63 Pro, further solidifying its position against BMW M and Audi Sport in the Indian market.
