The GT2 Pro gets a Push2Pass function that provides a boost for a short duration.
Mercedes-AMG has revealed its latest race car called the GT2 Pro. The non-homologated race car has been designed only for non-competition track days. It is an evolution of the AMG GT2 race car that was first revealed to the world last year and is based on the previous-gen Mercedes-AMG GT.
Over and above what the AMG GT2 offers, the GT2 Pro comes with a Push2Pass function. Similar to the one seen on the new Ferrari 499P Modificata, the Push2Pass function provides a boost of around 42 bhp for a short duration, raising the total power output to 739 bhp from 697 bhp. The Push2Pass can be accessed via a button on the race-spec steering wheel. GT2 Pro gets a 4.0-litre, twin-turbocharged V8 engine mated to a 6-speed sequential gearbox with modified gear ratios.
The GT2 Pro is only available in a matt grey colour option for the body and teal-coloured accents all around. It also gets GT2 Pro decals on the doors and the bonnet as well as an AMG decal on the windshield. The GT2 Pro gets a massive rear wing like the GT2 but it has bigger end plates for better aerodynamics. The other mechanical change is the four-way adjustable shock absorbers, as compared to the three-way adjustable shock absorbers on the standard GT2.
Inside, the GT2 Pro gets a race-spec steering wheel designed by Cube Controls and a single, carbon-fibre racing bucket seat. Safety equipment on the GT2 Pro includes a five-point safety harness, safety nets, fire extinguisher and an extrication hatch.
Buyers of the GT2 Pro will get a specially-designed car cover, full racing apparel by Puma that includes an individualised race suit, gloves, competition underwear and shoes, and a customised racing helmet by Bell.
As mentioned, the GT2 Pro is a non-homologated race car by Mercedes-AMG, however, the brand claims that the GT2 Pro can be downgraded to meet race homologation standards. GT2 Pro owners will also be given priority in Mercedes’ AMG Racing Series.
