Mercedes-Benz India has announced its best-ever fiscal performance in FY 2024-25, retailing 18,928 vehicles, driven largely by surging demand for its top-end luxury (TEV) offerings and electric vehicle (BEV) portfolio. The company also recorded 4,775 units sold in the first quarter of 2025, reflecting sustained momentum despite a decline in the entry-level segment.
According to the company, overall sales grew 4 per cent year-on-year in FY 24-25, largely attributed to a 34 per cent increase in TEV sales and a 51 per cent surge in BEV sales. This performance comes amid challenges in the entry-luxury segment, which saw a 28 per cent decline in Q1 2025, leading to an 11.8 per cent quarterly dip in overall sales volumes compared to the same period last year.
Mercedes-Benz’s top-end portfolio, which includes models such as the S-Class, Mercedes-Maybach, AMG G 63, EQS SUV, and the new G 580 with EQ Technology, remained the key driver of growth. In Q1 2025, more than one in four Mercedes-Benz cars sold in India fell into the top-end luxury category. High demand has resulted in waiting periods of up to 12 months for select models, including the AMG G 63 and Maybach S-Class variants.
The E-Class Long Wheelbase (LWB) continued its strong run as the best-selling luxury vehicle in India, bolstered by the introduction of the E 450 variant. The company’s 'Core' segment, which comprises the C-Class, E-Class LWB, GLC, and GLE, remained the largest contributor to overall sales and saw consistent customer traction across regions.
The luxury carmaker’s battery electric vehicle (BEV) strategy also gained significant ground, with BEVs accounting for 7 per cent of total sales in FY 24-25, and increasing to 8 per cent in Q1 2025. The EQS SUV emerged as the highest-selling electric model for the brand in India, supported by local manufacturing and favourable customer response to the EQS 580 and EQS 450 variants. The EV portfolio also saw a boost from the recently launched Maybach EQS Night Series and the G 580 EQ SUV, both commanding long waiting periods due to high demand. SUVs continued to dominate sales, accounting for 60 per cent of the total volume in FY 24-25. The portfolio, including models like the GLA, GLC, GLE, GLS, and G-Class, received strong customer interest.
Looking ahead, Mercedes-Benz India has announced an aggressive network expansion plan under its “Go to Customer” strategy. The company will add 21 new MAR20X retail outlets in 2025, with a focus on both metro cities and emerging markets. New facilities are slated to open in Kanpur, Varanasi, Jammu, Patna, and Udaipur, following a recent debut in Agra. The brand also inaugurated a state-of-the-art 3S facility in Bengaluru and a dedicated service centre in Hyderabad. An investment of ₹450 crore from franchise partners is planned over the next three years to support these developments.
