While all segments in the brand’s portfolio saw growth in sales, the entry-level segment declined marginally.

While the industry is witnessing a decline in sales, Mercedes-Benz India has reported stellar sales in the first quarter of the financial year 2026 (FY26). The brand sold 4,238 vehicles in the three-month period between April and June 2025, growing by 10 per cent compared to the same period last year.

Mercedes-Benz India notes that the sales momentum was driven by a strong demand for its high-end electric vehicles, which have also become a significant contributor to the brand’s portfolio. This segment grew by 157 per cent year-on-year (YoY) and comprises 8 per cent of the total sales of Mercedes-Benz India. The demand for the Maybach EQS SUV and G 580 with EQ Tech (electric G-Class) is so high that the waiting period is now around 6 months for both electric SUVs.

The top-end luxury segment, basically the expensive cars sold by Mercedes-Benz India that are priced over ₹1 crore, has seen a YoY growth of 20 per cent. The brand has seen a strong demand for the S-Class, Maybach Night Series vehicles, electric G-Class, AMG G 63 and EQS SUV.

Santosh Iyer, Managing Director & CEO of Mercedes-Benz India, said, “Our sharp focus on bolstering the Top-End Luxury has been highly successful in influencing customer preferences and differentiating Mercedes-Benz as the most desirable luxury brand in India.”

The ‘core’ segment of Mercedes-Benz India, which includes cars like the C-Class, E-Class LWB, GLC and GLE, grew by 10 per cent in Q1 FY26 and contributed to 60 per cent of the total sales for the brand. Mercedes-Benz claims the E-Class LWB is the best-selling luxury car in India.

The only segment of cars in Mercedes-Benz India’s portfolio which didn’t see a growth in sales was the entry-level luxury one that has cars like the A-Class, GLA and EQA. Sales of this segment declined marginally, and Mercedes-Benz India didn’t say by how much.

Audi India sold 2,128 units in India in the first half of 2025. This means its sales in Q1 FY26 would be far less compared to Mercedes-Benz. In the first half of 2025, BMW India sold 7,477 units. Volvo Car India is yet to announce its half-yearly sales numbers.
