Mercedes-Benz India has launched the all-new G 450d, marking a significant milestone for the German luxury carmaker as it becomes the first time the iconic G-Class is available with diesel, petrol, and electric powertrains in India. The G 450d is priced at ₹2.90 crores (ex-showroom, all-India) with only 50 exclusive units available in the first allocation.
The launch of the G 450d adds to Mercedes-Benz India's aggressive expansion in 2025, bringing the total number of new model launches to at least six for the calendar year. Earlier in January, the company introduced the EQS 450 SUV (₹1.28 crore) and the electric G 580 (₹3 crore). In August, Mercedes launched the AMG CLE 53 Coupe at ₹1.35 crore, later reduced to ₹1.28 crore following GST revisions. The company also launched the Maybach EQS SUV Night Series at ₹2.63 crore during the Auto Expo.
The G 450d features Mercedes-Benz's most powerful diesel engine in its portfolio - a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder unit that delivers 362 bhp and 750 Nm of torque. Enhanced with 48V mild hybrid technology providing an additional 15 kW assist, the SUV accelerates from 0-100 kmph in just 5.8 seconds with a top speed of 210 kmph.
Staying true to the G-Class heritage, the G 450d maintains exceptional off-road prowess with up to 100% gradeability on suitable surfaces, ground clearance of at least 241 mm between axles, and maximum fording depth of 70 cm for water and mud. The SUV features the proven ladder-frame construction, three mechanical differential locks, and a combination of double wishbone independent front suspension with a rigid rear axle.
The G 450d comes equipped with the latest MBUX NTG7 infotainment system featuring Augmented Reality Navigation, two-tone Nappa leather upholstery, and a Burmester 3D Surround Sound system with Dolby Atmos. The interior features a redesigned off-road cockpit providing easy access to all off-road functions, while extensive MANUFAKTUR customisation options allow for personalised paint and upholstery choices.
Mercedes-Benz India had previously announced plans to launch eight new models in 2025, with the company already exceeding expectations with multiple launches across different segments.
The G 450d launch also comes as Mercedes-Benz India celebrates record-breaking sales performance, achieving its highest-ever September sales in 2025 with 36% year-on-year growth. The company's success has been driven by strong demand across both core luxury and top-end vehicle segments, with electric vehicles now representing 8% of overall sales volume.
