Historically, Microsoft hosts a Surface event every year in September or October.

Microsoft has sent out media invites for a "special event" scheduled to take place on Thursday, September 21, in New York City. The cryptic invitation reads, "Mark your calendars for a special Microsoft event," which could suggest a showcase of its latest hardware offerings.

Microsoft hosts a Surface event every year in September or October, and this year too, like clockwork, we could see the company unveil a range of new devices.

As per the rumours surrounding Microsoft's Special Event, the company could launch the Surface Go 4, Surface Laptop Studio 2, and Surface Laptop Go 3 in the coming months.

Recently, a Windows Central report leaked key details about the Surface Laptop Studio 2, which is expected to be powered by the latest Intel processors, an upgraded GPU and a refined array of I/O ports.

In addition, there are also rumours that Microsoft will unveil the next update for Windows 11 at its Special Event in September. The next Windows 11 2023 update is slated to bring native support for RAR and 7-Zip files, an upgraded settings homepage, an enhanced volume mixer, and early access to the Windows Copilot.

Microsoft's Special Event on September 21 will be its first major hardware announcement ever since it restructured its hardware portfolio.
