Chinese-owned Italian motorcycle brand Moto Morini has just unveiled a new bolt-on sports kit option for its Seiemmezzo 6 ½ Retro Street model. Unfortunately, this new kit option has been announced for the UK and Ireland only. Nonetheless, the middleweight naked roadster motorcycle, which is also sold in India, looks quite delicious with the new kits – the details of which we discussed below.
Starting at the front, the Seiemmezzo 6 ½ gets a new small flyscreen that wraps around the headlight giving it a bulky appeal. Underneath the engine section, there’s a new belly pan with matching colours, and a similar aesthetic touch can be found with the new pillion seat cover as well. At the back, the swingarm-mounted wraparound number plate has been replaced by a more conventionally mounted setup which extends underneath the tail light and acts as this sleek mudguard.
Beyond these visual upgrades, the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo 6 ½ has largely remained the same. So it continues to roll on 18-/17-inch alloy wheels shod with Pirelli Angel GT tyres. On top of that, there are also 298 mm dual front disc brakes 255 mm rear disc brake with four-piston and two-piston Brembo brake calipers, and a Bosch ABS system. Similarly, suspension components are the same 43 mm USD fork and a monoshock, both good for 120 mm of travel. Additionally, both ends are available with rebound and preload adjustments, but the front also gets compression adjustability.
Keeping matters sporty is the 649 cc, parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that is good for 55 bhp and 54 Nm. With this mill, the Seiemmezzo 6 ½ feels peppy and yet there’s a distinct calm manner in the way it sends the power to the rear wheel.
In India, the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo 6 ½ STR/ Retro Street is sold at ₹6.99 lakh. However, in the UK and Ireland, with the newly launched sport kit the bike still costs a reasonable £6,249 (approximately ₹6.58 lakh). Will Moto Morini bring this new kit option to India? We don’t think so. Despite being on sale for around a year now, sales of the Moto Morini Seiemmezzo 6 ½ haven’t picked up as they should’ve been. So, with the products already facing dwindling interest, adding a new kit option which might shoot up the price as well, doesn’t sound like a good business idea.
