The Badboy is expected to enter production by 2026.
Chennai-based venture capitalist firm MudhalVC unveiled the Badboy, the country's first electric super trike. The vehicle was showcased as part of its accelerator program, “Idea Pattarai.” The Badboy super trike is still in its prototype stage, which the company eventually plans to launch it in India. Production is expected to begin in 2026.
The prototype model showcased here is MudhalVC’s attempt to deliver ‘the ultimate driving experience’. With the Badboy, the VC firm has designed a three-wheeler with two wheels at the front and one at the back. As a consequence, the Badboy ends up with this nice arrow-shaped body design, the inspiration for which MudhalVC claims came from Formula 1 cars.
Specifications | Length | Width | Height | Ground Clearance | Turning Radius |
Units | 4000 mm | 1400 mm | 1200 mm | 180 mm | 4590 mm |
Due to its sleek and narrow body design - MudhalVC has come up with a unique seating position wherein the driver and passenger are seated behind each other. Continuing in tandem with the F1 theme, the controls to the car are also centrally aligned, just like the driver’s seat that is centrally positioned. The steering wheel design is hexagonal, and to turn the Badboy, the entire body tilts 45 degrees, which in turn was inspired by MotoGP.
We don’t have the details about the Badboy Supertrike’s powertrain yet. However, the company did state that the three-wheeler is powered by a 20 kWh battery, which it expects can provide 400 km of range. Currently, MudhalVC is using Catl batteries sourced from local vendors. Down the line, the company plans to establish business relations directly with the Chinese company.
While details about the electric motor are still under wraps, MudhalVC claims that the Badboy (roadster) will be able to accelerate from 0 to 100 mph in just 4.5 seconds and reach a top speed of 200 mph. This vehicle still needs to be validated, so we take these numbers with a grain of salt.
MudhalVC says that it plans to launch the Badboy by the second quarter of 2026. The model showcased here is a coupe, and a Roadster model will also be available. As for its cost, MudhalVC wants to position this as a premium offering, so somewhere in the range of ₹15-₹18 lakh is what the company is planning to price the car at.
There are not many electric three-wheelers, though, and even if there are, which include those like Piaggio Ape, etc. – they are all commercial vehicles. In the private vehicle segment, there aren’t any direct competitors to the Badboy Supertrike. However, if we take its expected price range, it does have the likes of the Tata Currvv EV as one of its competitors. But even then the latter is much more practical and accommodating, unlike the Badboy, which is a lifestyle segment.
