The 2025 Audi Q6 e-Tron will fill the gap between the smaller, budget-friendly Q4 e-Tron and the larger, more premium Q8 e-Tron.

Audi has unveiled the 2025 Audi Q6 e-Tron at the 2023 IAA Mobility Auto Show in Munich. This new addition to Audi's electric vehicle line-up is poised to fill the gap between the smaller, budget-friendly Q4 e-Tron and the larger, more premium Q8 e-Tron. The powertrain details of the Q6 e-Tron haven't been officially disclosed, but test prototypes, driven earlier this year featured two potential powertrains. One is a dual-motor setup, producing 373 bhp with the ability to surge to 393 bhp in brief bursts. The other is the sportier SQ6 variant, boasting an impressive 479 bhp, temporarily increased to 505 bhp.

What sets the Q6 e-Tron apart is its use of the Premium Platform Electric (PPE) architecture, a collaborative effort between Audi and Porsche. This platform features an 800-volt electrical system, providing a significant charging advantage over Audi's current EVs. The Q6 e-Tron can achieve a maximum charging rate of 270 kW, compared to the 150 kW limit of the Q4 e-Tron and Q8 e-Tron. With a 93 kWh battery pack, it is expected to charge from 10 per cent to 80 per cent in 30 minutes when connected to a high-powered charging station.

In terms of size, the Q6 e-Tron’s exterior dimensions are similar to those of the compact Q5 SUV, but it promises more interior space thanks to its long wheelbase and shorter overhangs. Audi has a reputation for providing ample passenger space, and the Q6 e-Tron is expected to carry on this tradition.

However, the interior design approach of the Q6 e-Tron has raised some eyebrows. The centre stack appears to be devoid of physical buttons, though a volume knob is visible. The steering wheel features capacitive touch control panels, a feature seen in current Audi models like the Q4 e-Tron and Volkswagen ID.4. Audi enthusiasts hope for an improved user experience with these controls.

In terms of sustainability, Audi has made strides by incorporating recycled materials throughout the cabin. Recycled polyester stretches from door to door across the dashboard, while similar fabrics adorn the seats and headliner. Additionally, microfiber materials, also made from recycled sources, are used for seat upholstery. For those who prefer a more traditional Audi experience, diamond-stitched leather upholstery is available.

The dashboard of the Q6 e-Tron is dominated by an 11.9-inch digital instrument panel and a 14.5-inch central touchscreen, seamlessly integrated into a single curved display. There's also an option for a third 10.9-inch screen, aimed at enhancing the passenger's role in audio tuning or navigation, without distracting the driver.

One standout feature is the augmented reality head-up display, designed to present information in a way that aligns with the driver's natural field of view. This innovative technology helps keep the driver's focus on the road ahead. In terms of cargo space, the Q6 e-Tron offers 527-litre with the rear seats up, slightly less than the Q4 e-Tron or Q5. However, it compensates with an additional 65-litre of storage in the frunk, ideal for stowing charging equipment or smaller travel items.

2025

As Audi continues to expand its electric vehicle portfolio, the 2025 Audi Q6 e-Tron emerges as a compelling option, offering a balanced blend of performance, technology, sustainability, and practicality. It bridges the gap in Audi's electric line-up, providing Audi fans with more choices in the ever-growing electric vehicle market.
