The Tavascan EV is based on VW Group’s MEB all-electric platform.

Cupra has showcased the production version of Tavascan EV at the 2023 Munich Motor Show. The Tavascan EV is the result of a collaboration between Volkswagen Anhui and JAC Motors and is built on VW Group's MEB all-electric platform. The electric SUV will be built in China and then exported to Europe.

The concept version of the Cupra Tavascan EV was first unveiled at the 2019 Frankfurt Motor Show. In that respect, the production version has remained quite close to the concept. The Tavascan EV shares a lot of its parts with the Volkswagen ID.5. Infact, the Tavascan is a close sibling of the Skoda Enyaq Coupe iV and Audi Q4 Sportback e-tron, as well.

The Cupra Tavascan EV comes with two powertrain options - a single motor setup which produces 282 bhp and a twin-motor one which churns out 335 bhp. The all-electric SUV comes with a 77 kWh battery pack which in the less powerful version has a claimed range of 548 km, while the more powerful version has a claimed range of 516 km.

In the international market, the Tavascan EV will compete against the Tesla Model Y, Ford Mustang Mach-E, Kia EV6 and Hyundai Ioniq 5. Also, Cupra is the high-performance subsidiary of Seat, which is also a member of the Volkswagen Group. The chances of the Cupra Tavascan EV making its way to India are slim, but we could see the Volkswagen ID.5 make its way to our shores soon.
