October seems to be an adventurous month for Indian bikers.
The past few months have been quite action-packed as a slew of new bikes and scooters were launched in the Indian market. With Dussehra scheduled this month, manufacturers are gearing up for good sales during the festive season. Here is the list of two-wheelers that would make their India debut in October 2023.
The Triumph Speed 400 is the first product to be born out of the collaboration between Bajaj Auto and Triumph Motorcycles. At the time of the launch, Triumph also had showcased the Scrambler 400 X but didn’t announce the price for the product despite accepting bookings for the same. The British brand will officially launch the new Scrambler 400 in India by mid-October and our estimate is that it could be priced around Rs 2.50 to 2.60 lakh (ex-showroom).
Apart from the Triumph Scrambler 400, the other big ticket launch scheduled in October is the Royal Enfield Himalayan 450. It’s among the most highly anticipated new two-wheeler launches of this year and although the launch has been delayed, we’re sure Royal Enfield is set to wow us with the new Himalayan 450.
The highlight of the new Royal Enfield bike will be its 450cc, single-cylinder engine with liquid-cooling technology (a first for any RE bike). Also, from the spy shots we can see that the new Himalayan 450 features long travel suspension and also the chassis is completely revised. The new Royal Enfield ADV bike is likely to be launched by the end of this month with prices starting between Rs 2.75 and Rs 2.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
The iconic Kinetic Luna is set to make a comeback but in a different avatar. The Luna will now be powered by an electric motor to better suit the needs of the modern era. While the Luna was a popular two-wheeler especially among female riders owing to its lightweight nature, the new e-Luna seems to be more of a B2B kind of vehicle. Whether Kinetic will launch it as B2B or a B2C electric scooter is something we shall only find out post the launch. What we can estimate is the pricing which could be under Rs 1 lakh and a range of around 100 km.
Ather is on a roll this year with a slew of new launches. It recently launched the new 450X and if recent certification documents are to be believed it will be launching the Ather 450 HR. The HR could stand for ‘High Range’ as the documents reveal that the new electric scooter will have a certified range of 156 km, which is 10 km more than the 450X. The Ather 450 HR features a larger 3.76 kWh battery pack as opposed to the 2.9 kWh unit that we have seen on the 450X. What’s interesting is that the top speed of the new Ather scooter is 80 kmph, which is 10 kmph less than the 450X. We think this could have been done to optimise range. We think the Ather 450 HR might be priced above the 450S which retails for Rs 1.30-1.43 lakh (ex-showroom).
